OILTON — CimTel announced this week it is bringing fiber-to-the-home internet service to Oilton, a move expected to provide gigabit-speed connectivity to homes and businesses throughout the community.
The telecommunications provider said construction on the fiber network is nearing completion, with installation orders now being accepted. The company said the project is expected to be fully wrapped up by late 2025.
CimTel CEO Jake Baldwin said the expansion is part of the company’s long-term commitment to improving broadband access in rural Oklahoma.
“For more than a century, we’ve been connecting Oklahoma communities, and we’re proud to bring this next generation of technology to Oilton,” Baldwin said. “Fiber to the home is about more than faster internet. It creates opportunities for education, health care, economic growth and quality of life.”
According to CimTel, the fiber network will deliver internet speeds of up to one gigabit per second with consistent performance, allowing residents to work, learn and access services from home while supporting local businesses.
City officials said the project represents a significant upgrade for the community.
“The City of Oilton is excited to have fiber optic internet services available,” said City Clerk Shannon Wilson. “This is a major step forward for residents to have fast and reliable service, and the city appreciates CimTel and its crews for their professionalism and responsiveness.”
Business leaders also welcomed the announcement, citing the role reliable internet plays in attracting growth.
“The Oilton Chamber of Commerce is excited to welcome CimTel Fiber to our community,” said Julia Bagwell, chamber president. “This investment represents growth and opportunity for Oilton, and we look forward to working together to serve our community.”
CimTel said the new infrastructure will support remote work, online education, telemedicine and future technology needs, including smart home devices and cloud-based services.
“Rural communities shouldn’t be left behind in the digital age,” Baldwin said. “We believe every community deserves access to reliable, high-speed internet.”
