G.O. Bonds meeting Thursday

MANNFORD — The City of Mannford will take its next step toward a potential general obligation bond this week, with a public forum scheduled for Thursday evening at City Hall.

The meeting, set for 6 p.m. inside Joyce Martin Hall, is being framed as an informational and feedback session as city leaders begin exploring the possibility of a G.O. bond issue tied to future development and infrastructure needs.

At the center of that conversation is a proposed subdivision on the south side of Highway 51, just west of the Mannford Senior Center.

Mayor Clay Abercrombie, who is serving as committee chair, will open the meeting before turning the floor over to presenters who will walk residents through the basics of general obligation bonds and outline potential project needs.

The agenda includes an overview of how G.O. bonds work, followed by a presentation on city needs and proposed projects. A public input session is also scheduled, giving residents an opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and weigh in on the direction of the proposal.

City officials are expected to encourage participation in a follow-up survey and outline the timeline for how the process could move forward, including additional meetings.

G.O. bonds, if ultimately approved by voters, are typically backed by property taxes and used to fund public infrastructure projects such as roads, public facilities, and utilities.

Thursday’s forum does not involve a vote, but it represents an early step in what could become a broader public decision on whether to move forward with the bond initiative.

The meeting announcement and agenda was officially posted March 17 at Mannford City Hall.
