OILTON — The City of Oilton formally sworn in three officials during the most recent council meeting on March 10.
The first oath of office was taken by Julia Bagwell as she takes the position of mayor after running unopposed. Cameron Williams was officially sworn in as Oilton police chief after having been appointed the interim following the resignation of Chris Kirkpatrick. Finally, Brian McCool was appointed to fill Ward Four following Bagwell’s new position as mayor.
For Ward Four Bruce Shelley who offered to fill the position but was ultimately not chosen following a 4-2 vote in favor of appointing McCool.
The oath of office was administered to the city’s newest mayor, police chief, and council member by City Clerk Shannon Wilson. Each official pledged to uphold the laws of the State of Oklahoma and serve the residents of Oilton.
City leaders and community members were in attendance as the individuals officially began their terms. Following the swearingin, the council proceeded with regular city business.
Officials expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the community and said they look forward to working on behalf of Oilton residents.
