DRUMRIGHT — City of Drumright commissioners approved additional road improvement projects during their most recent meeting on June 8.
Commissioners approved a modification to a project agreement with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation that will allow additional streets to be included in an upcoming road improvement project. The action amends a recent Municipal Roads Drilling Activities Revolving Fund (MRDAF) project which was identified earlier in the fiscal year.
City Manager Shawn Gibson said a low bid costs is to thank for the expansion.
“The bid came in lower than expected,” he said.
Because of the lower cost the city had the opportunity to add more streets to the scope of work — allowing the city to address additional roadway needs without seeking additional project funding.
The amendment increases the overall reach of the planned improvements.
The projects are funded through a program designed to assist communities with transportation infrastructure improvements.
