Lady Tornadoes come back twice to be OBA

This was amazing the Lady Tornadoes Fastpitch won districts and are heading to regionals. It was great to watch. Our young team twice when it looks like we were going to lose we urgently stepped it up and won both games 9-5 and 13-9. The second time they played OBA we were down 6-0 as OBA hit the ball hard and in the gaps. Just when us fans were worried super fans Penny Gooch and Jenny Christy urged the Lady Tornadoes with a lot of yelling and encouragement.

Early on in the week the ladies played Wellston who they barely beat 4-3 at Drumright about a month ago. This time at Wellston the ladies destroyed Wellston 19-5. It was tied 2-2 but the ladies got 12 runs in the top of the third and one 19-5. The bass running was unreal.

Fast forward to the fi rst game of districts the ladies beat Glencoe 6-2, Evie Ools struck out six; did not walk anybody. In fact she didn't walk anyone the whole three games. Kaiton Vann was our relief pitcher the last two innings of the game after a tough start. Aubrey Allen and Alyssa Roe made plans to get out of a jam in the sixth. The seventh wasn't that nerve-racking.

Then came the OBA game with our size we looked real short next to the lady Trojans. They had the size but we had the speed. We were down 2-0 when Vann doubled and stole third base. You could feel (even though we only got one run) things was about to change. Boston Lunsford ground out and scored Vann. The third inning the ladies got three runs. McKay Reed walked, Lauren Janzen signled, Evie Ools (who was three for four with four RBIs) doubled in Reed, and Janzen, Addie Ingraham walked after a Vann double. A sacrifi ce fl y scored Zoe Nienhaus running for Ools. It got as close as 5-4 but the ladies got two runs in the sixth and seventh to close the deal 9-5. There were hits by Reed, Ools, Lunsford, Brinlee Christey, and Aubrey Brimmer. Jenzen walked in the sixth.

The last game OBA, who hit the ball as hard as anyone on Ools, but Evie who has pitched great had a little help from her friends. Just when OBA thought it was safe having is 6-0 lead, it wasn't safe at all. The ladies scored six runs in the bottom of the third to go up 8-6. It was wild as OBA could not keep up with the hitting and the base running.

I’ve got to say Coach Leslie Robinson and assistant Alyssa Fuxa have done a great job coaching this season and you could tell the results. Without playing teams like Yale and Hominy we might not be as good. Don't forget Ripley either.

Alyssa Roe is scorching with the bat. I believe she was seven out of 11 with four RBIs she is a great base runner and a reliable shortstop. Aubrey Brimmer hit a triple knocking in three base runners in the third.

dives Defensive plays were also made by Addie Ingraham, Brinlee Christi, Janzen, Reed, Brimmer, Roe, Allen, and Vann who made incredible plays in the district at third base.

She was fi ve for 10 with two RBIs for the tournament, Ools was fi ve for 11 with four RBIs, Brimmer four for 11 with fi ve RBIs, Reed three for 11. And stole bases, well, Janzen was four out of 11 with three RBIs, Christi three for 10 with two RBIs, Allen four out of 10 with two RBIs, Ingraham walked once.

The teams celebrations are worth the price of admission. I got to take pictures with the Lady Tornadoes after the game — I've never had my picture taken with that many pretty girls. Next is Regionals don't know where yet.

Underestimate these girls at your own risk. Zoe Nienhaus did a real good job running the bases.
