SAND SPRINGS — In the highest-scoring game since the 84-0 blowout of US Grant in 2022, the Sand Springs Sandites blanked Capitol Hill 70-0 last Friday at home in front of a homecoming crowd, capping off a third consecutive shutout for the first time since 1938. To add to the books, the team’s cumulative margin over those three games: 156–0, now stands as the largest three-game victory margin in Sand Springs history. That narrowly edges last season’s 168–13 margin over Capitol Hill, Ponca City, and Putnam West.
From the opening kickoff, the Sandites made their intentions clear, setting the tone for what would become a rout. The offense poured it on, with explosive passing plays, a suffocating ground game, and opportunistic turnovers fueling the margin.
Sand Springs needed all of 10 seconds to ge the fuse lit. Alex Dudley knifed up the middle on the opening kickoff and was gone, a sea-to-shining-sea return that set the tone for a runaway first quarter. Sand Springs 7, Capitol Hill 0.
Minutes later, the Sandites struck from orbit when quarterback Easton Webb uncorked a 51-yard strike down the right seam to Dominic Forbes for six. Sand Springs 14, Capitol Hill 0.
A couple touchdowns later and still in the first quarter, the Sandite defense joined the party as Junior Ballard scooped a loose ball near midfield and sprinted it back for a fumble-return TD. Sand Springs 34, Capitol Hill 0.
Early in the second quarter, backup QB Landen Gonzalez found tight end Ryan Metz on a 21-yard strike, Metz won the inside leverage battle and caught the ball instride and ran to the house untouched. Sand Springs 42, Capitol Hill 0.
This was the set up for halftime and when Sand Springs came out of the locker room, they put their foot back on the gas — albeit with the second unit on the field. A balanced attack, complemented by a defense that rarely allowed Capitol Hill to cross midfield, sealed up the blowout. In the fourth quarter, Kaizen Freese capped off the scoring at 70-0 with a 15-yard run. The Redwolves never threatened.
With this victory, Sand Springs not only added another dominant win to its ledger, but also etched their names in the record books: Up next, the Sandites will turn their attention to Ponca City on the road, hoping to keep the momentum rolling and the shutouts alive.
