Home sweet home

The Drumright Tornadoes travelled to Foyil Friday night.

Win, and the Tornadoes would get second place in district and get to host a playoff game.

Coach Chris Elerick said “First play of the game we ran double reverse quarterback throwback, and it took everybody to execute.

“The offensive line kept Foyil from getting pressure.

“The first part was to hand off to Aiden Lumpkins who then handed off to Sammy Blackburn who threw a pass to Garret Wright who scored on a 42 yard touchdown to set the tone for the game.”

Wright scored the 2 point conversion on a run. Foyil had to be thinking “What the heck are they going to do next!?”

Foyil had several chances to score afterwards but the defense of Conrad Reed, Max Gray, Chase Creekmoore, Lumpkins, Aydin Coffelt, Kypton Ward, and Keagan Ward kept Foyil from scoring.

Wright scored later on a 70 yard run, and a 77 yard run. He Had 219 yards rushing on 6 carries.

Elerick said “We only ran 14 offensive plays the whole game for 420 yards.”

Foyil had a 6-3 record going into their Senior night.

Conrad Reed caught a 71 yard pass from Wright. It wasn’t an R-rated celebration like you see in the pro’s, but he was flagged anyways. It wasn’t even PG-13.

Aiden Lumpkins caught touchdown passes of 28 yards and 40 yards.

Cordae McCormick had an eighteen yard run for a touchdown.

Max Gray had 16 tackles, Conrad Reed 15. Chase Creekmore and Aiden Lumpkins had 13 a piece. Aydin Coffelt 9, Kypton Ward 8, Keagan Ward 7, Cordae McCormick 4, and Garrett Wright 3. Sammy Blackburn had 2 plus a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.

Kamari Louis had 1 tackle.

The offensive line of Gray, Louis, Gavin Howell, Kypton, and Keaton all did a great job blocking.

Foyil did have success running the ball for 182 yards, as the game ended soon after halftime.

They only threw one pass.

Coach Elerick said “The key to stopping Foyil was to stop the option game, and we did. The players showed enough discipline to do it.”

For the third year in a row we will host a playoff game. It’s against a familiar opponent, Quinton, who is 8-2, they have only lost to No. 1 ranked Dewar and No. 3 ranked Caddo.

Coach Elerick said “They are big, strong, and physical.”

The game is at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Hopefully we will have a big crowd there.

Let’s have a louder crowd than usual, this is a playoff game.
