DRUMRIGHT – The Drumright City Council approved a proclamation Monday, Nov. 10, renaming the portion of Second Street in front of the new Drumright Public Schools Activity Center as “Robert Marshall Drive.” The recognition honors Robert Marshall for his decades of support for Drumright athletics, education, and the community at large.
Marshall, a local journalist and longtime advocate for Drumright students and programs, was presented with the proclamation during the City Commission meeting. Humble in his response, he said, “It’s pretty humbling to know that the city and community would do such a thing for me.”
Full Proclamation: Whereas Mr. Robert Marshall has been a steadfast supporter of Drumright athletics and education for decades, and whereas through his dedicated work in journalism, he has continuously highlighted our students, staff, and athletic programs in a positive and inspiring manner, and whereas his presence at school events as a writer, mentor, and loyal supporter has made a lasting impact on our community and helped preserve the proud spirit of Drumright Public Schools, and whereas the City of Drumright would like to rename this street in his honor to recognize his exceptional contributions and unwavering commitment to our youth and community and to serve as a lasting reminder of the value of dedication, service, and community pride that Mr. Marshall exemplifies. Now, therefore, be it proclaimed that we, the Mayor and City Commissioners, Commission of the City of Drumright, hereby rename Second Street in front of Drumright Public Schools Activity Center to Robert Marshall Drive.
