OKLAHOMA — Voters in District 35 will head to the polls in the near future for a Special Primary Election limited to propositions and party primary contests. On Dec. 9 polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

District 35 spans Creek, Noble, Osage, Pawnee, and Payne County with municipalities represented including local coverage areas of Cleveland, Drumright, Glencoe, Hallett, Hominy, Jennings, Mannford, Maramec, Oak Grove, Oilton, Olive, Osage, Pawnee, Prue, Quay, Skedee, and Terlton among others.

The election was scheduled following the resignation of the district’s legislative seat holder Ty Burns. The ballot will feature a crowded Republican primary field with Mike Waters, Kevin Wright, Amber Roberts, Dillon Travis, and James Winn vying for their party’s nomination. The Democratic primary will include a single candidate, Luke Kruse.

The Special Election will determine who advances to the next stage in the race to fill the District 35 seat. Local election officials encourage all eligible voters to be aware of the deadlines and make a plan to cast their ballots.

Early voting dates for residents are next Thursday and Friday on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 with polling places open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The primary election will be held on Dec. 9.
