MANNFORD — City officials recently chose to move forward with a needed repair to critical infrastructure serving a local recreational area following an unplanned issue occuring.
During a recent meeting, a budget amendment for the Water Fund in the amount of $37,900 was discussed by town trustees in order to cover the cost of repairing and replacing a sewer lift station located near the Four Diamonds baseball fields. The item was presented as both a discussion point and for possible approval.
According to City Manager Gerald Haury, the expense stems from an unexpected failure of the lift station which required immediate attention.
“The sewer lift station at the Four Diamonds baseball fields has failed and must have an emergency overhaul (rebuild),” Haury said.
Because the failure was unforeseen the cost was not included in the city’s current fiscal year budget. As a result, officials must amend the Water Fund budget to allocate the necessary funds and proceed with the repairs.
Haury explained that the amendment is essential to authorize the expenditures required to complete the project and restore proper function to the system. The proposed amendment allowed the city to respond quickly to the issue and maintain reliable infrastructure for residents and facilities in the area.
