Every community has its favorites

EDITORIAL

The restaurant where the waitress knows your order before you sit down. The mechanic who always finds time to squeeze you in. The teacher who changed a student's life. The local business owner who sponsors little league teams, donates to fundraisers and quietly supports causes throughout the year.

The fifth annual Best of Cimarron Valley Readers Choice Awards is an opportunity to recognize those people and businesses who make our communities special.

At first glance, a readers choice contest may seem like a simple popularity competition. In reality, it is something much more meaningful. It is a chance for residents to celebrate the businesses, organizations and individuals who have earned their trust and support.

Unlike awards selected by a panel of judges, the Best of Cimarron Valley is decided entirely by the people who live, work and shop in our communities. The winners are chosen by the customers they serve, the neighbors they help and the people whose lives they impact every day.

For small businesses especially, that recognition matters.

Many local business owners spend long hours working behind the scenes. They sponsor community events, support local schools, donate to charitable causes and invest their time and resources into helping our towns thrive. Being nominated by members of the community is a powerful reminder that those efforts are noticed and appreciated.

The nomination process is also an opportunity to discover businesses and organizations you may not have heard of before. It shines a spotlight on the people who make the Cimarron Valley a great place to live and encourages residents to support local whenever possible.

This year's contest includes communities across the region, including Agra, Cleveland, Cushing, Drumright, Glencoe, Hallett, Ingalls, Jennings, Mannford, Oak Grove, Oilton, Olive, Osage City, Pawnee, Prue, Ripley, Sand Springs, Shamrock, Stillwater, Terlton and Yale. Together, these communities represent the heart of the Cimarron Valley, and every resident has a voice in helping determine who deserves to be called 'The Best.'

Nominations are open through June 26, and readers are encouraged to participate as often as they would like. You do not have to complete every category to make a difference. Even taking a few moments to nominate your favorite businesses and individuals helps ensure they receive the recognition they deserve.

The top nominees in each category will advance to the final voting round beginning July 3, with winners determined by community support.

So whether it is your favorite restaurant, hometown banker, healthcare provider, coach, retailer, volunteer or local business, now is the time to show your appreciation.

The Best of Cimarron Valley Readers Choice Awards belong to the community. They are a celebration of the people who make our towns stronger, friendlier and more vibrant every day. Take a few minutes to nominate your favorites. Chances are they have earned it.
