It’s time to say goodbye to area basketball seniors. The Tulsa World had it’s piece for All-Tulsa and getting honorable mention for Drumright wee Evie Ools and Alyssa Roe. Congratulations girls.
DRUMRIGHT
First for the Lady Tornadoes of Drumright. The Lady Tornadoes only lose one senior and that is Evie Ools.
Started since her freshman year and was very good. Low post player, blocked a lot of shots over the years, had an arm injury midway through the season, and she could of quit because she has a fast pitch softball scholarship to Northwestern in Enid but she didn’t, it took awhile she had a lot to lose, but when her teammates needed her the most she did not let them down. In the districts against Hominy she scored 15 with a bunch of rebounds inside. She also had 11 points against Barnsdall.
Drumright Tornado Boys lose no seniors.
OLIVE
Olive varsity girls lose two seniors, Jackie Jenkins played very hard, she was scrappy, and played good defense, good team player. Elle Harmon also was very scrappy and could hit the three and had a good mid range shooting game.
For the Wildcat boys Brian Dodson always gave it all he had. He was a crowd favorite.
I’ll be honest, I don’t always get to see much of some of the players but I do believe they deserve recognition for going through all the practices like all the starters do, and don’t play a whole lot. I don’t remember Zack Canada that much but he deserves recognition just the same.
Jackson Buckler does a lot of the hard work setting screens, defensive rebounding, offensive rebounding, and playing hard nose defense. He also became a good scorer this year.
OILTON
The Lady Panthers of Oilton lose one senior this year and that is Karlie Kennedy. A very good defensive player, stealing the ball a lot, she drove a lot to the basket, she was tough late in games.
Rylan McCool finished just 35 points shy of 2,000, I think if he had one more game he would have gotten there. He had a career high of 49 points against Depew in an overtime game which Oilton finished with 4 players. He was great at driving to the basket and was a great free throw shooter and 3 point shooter.
Against Hominy, he was fouled with 0.4 seconds left with the game tied. He made 2-3 free throws, missing the last one so that Hominy could not get a good shot at the basket. Gave up his free throw percentage for the team and won on Hominy buck senior night. Awesome.
