The Drumright Lady Tornadoes fastpitch softball team coached by Leslie Robinson and Alyssa Fuxa got two good wins over Strother and Shidler.
They beat Strother 7-1 and Shidler 10-2.
There was a little controversy at Strother a month ago. It was a 2-2 tie, and a base running rule that hurt us happened. But this time the ladies took care of business and left no doubt. At senior night they beat an improved Shidler team 10 to 2. The l were down 2-1 going into the bottom of the third when they erupted for 6 runs. Can somebody chant 'Brynlee, Brynlee.”
In one game against Yale, she was 4-4 with one RBI and against Shidler, she was 3-3 with four rbis.
Evie Ools (Homecoming Queen) only gave up three runs in two games last week. She struck out six against Shidler and walked zero. She did give up a home run to a 6-2, 240 pound Shidler girl but made the same Shidler player look goofy as she struck her out later.
The ladies hit the ball well. Senior Paizley Christie, who had surgery, got to play two innings at fi rst base, did real well at fi rst and caught a fl y ball and walked her only time at bat.
McKay Reed was 2-3 with two RBIs. Aubrey Allen was 2-3 with one RBI. Ools was 1-2, Lauren Janzen 2-3, Kaiton Vann 1-1.
This year, junior Alyssa Roe has been dangerous on stealing second and third quite a few times.
Janzen and Reed steal a lot of bases.
Everybody else is a threat to steal.
On defense, Roe Vann, Aubrey Brimmer, Aubrey Allen and Addie Ingraham made plays. After the game, the two seniors, Paizley Christie and Evie Ools walked with their parents, Darin and Jenny Christie and Cary and Megan Ools.
Two years ago, sophomore Raleigh Dennis and Heather Johnson passed away. The two were very close to the rest of the team. Both senior players, Paizley and Evie, walked with the mothers, LeAnn Dennis and Jessica Wiegart around the bases to show that they loved them.
It was very emotional. The ladies, weather permitting, will play on Tursday at Oklahoma Baptist. Call the school to fi nd out what times the games are.
I think we’ve got a great chance up there.
Play hard for No. 10 and No. 12, ladies.
