CLEVELAND — The Mannford boys golf team, ranked No. 39, competed in two tournaments last week, highlighted by multiple top-20 individual finishes at Keystone Golf Club and Stroud Municipal Golf Course.
At the Caney Valley Tournament on March 24, junior Kagen O’Neill led the Pirates with a tie for 13th place, shooting an 87. He turned in a 46 on the front nine and a strong 41 on the back, highlighted by a 3 on hole No. 12 and consistent scoring down the stretch.
Freshman Bently Furr followed closely, tying for 18th with a 91. He carded a 49 on the front and 42 on the back, highlighted by an impressive 2 on hole No. 15.
Sophomore Bryson O’Neill placed 25th with a 93, posting a 46 on the front and a 47 on the back in a steady round.
Junior Grant Porter tied for 39th with a 105, while sophomore Triston Carnahan placed 61st with a 119 to round out the lineup. At the Stroud Route 66 Tournament on March 27, Mannford placed eighth as a team and again saw strong individual performances. Freshman Bently Furr led the Pirates with a 13th-place finish, shooting an 86 with a balanced 47 on the front and 39 on the back.
Sophomore Bryson O’Neill placed 15th with an 87, turning in a consistent round that included a 47 on the front and 40 on the back.
Junior Kagen O’Neill followed with a 28th-place finish at 95, while Grant Porter shot a 109 to place 54th and Triston Carnahan finished 57th with a 111.
With several players earning top-20 finishes across both events, the Pirates continue to gain momentum as the spring golf season progresses.
The Pirates can been seen twice in the upcoming week, first at the Bristow Tournament on April 6, and again at the Frontier Boys Tournament on April 9. Both tournaments tee-off at 9 a.m.
