We had three senior girls who were honored on Senior Day so I will write about them. There is also slowpitch softball in the spring so we’re probably saying goodbye to them just untill fast pitch.
Avery Todd, most of her career, played in the end. She stuck it out as the team manager which she wanted to stick it out with her friends. It may have been her freshman or sophomore year she blasted a homer that went quite a ways. Team manager was an honorable way to finish her fast pitch career.
Paisley Christy had an ACL injury that kept her from playing, but she got to play a couple of innings in senior night at first base and made some good plays. She walked her time at bat in a 10-2 win over Shidler.
How can you replace Evie Ools. I promise you, she was one of the best all-round players in Lady Tornado fastpitch softball history. Known mostly for her pitching, she could play other positions on the field. She is a great power hitter. She hardly ever gave up many runs. She caught everything close to her.
(UPDATE) The Lady Bucks from Hominy made it to the state semi-finals where they barely lost to state runners up Caddo, l-o in 16 innings. It was a classic, just as it was, when we beat Hominy 7-6 in nine innings.
Several Lady Tornadoes made All-Conference. First teamers were Evie Ools, Kaiton Vann and Alyssa Roe. Honorable mention were Aubrey Brimmer, Lauren Janzen, Brinlee Christy, McKay Reed and Boston Lunsford. Coaches Leslie Robinson and Alyssa Fuxa did a great job coaching this season. Paisley Christ will be ready for slowpitch.
