A bright Fourth of July can turn dangerous quickly if fireworks are not handled with care.Only adults should light fireworks, and children should never handle or ignite them. Light one firework at a time, then move back quickly.

Lightning ignites tank batteries

DRUMRIGHT — Drumright Fire Department members responded quickly after two tank batteries caught fire last week on June 23.According to department reports, two tank batteries located on Central Tech property were ignited after being stuck by lightning.

Mannford resident’s temporary water pressure issues storm-related

MANNFORD — Residents in Mannford experienced water pressure issues following severe weather that moved through the area last week, according to Mannford Public Works Director Jeremy Brown.Brown said the disruption was ultimately traced to a power outage caused by a storm on June 13.

District plans to fund SRO position after state cuts

SAND SPRINGS — The Sand Springs Board of Education at its June 1 meeting was updated about losing state funding for a School Resource Officer and plans to replace that SRO with the Sand Springs School District funding that position.
