Ho ho ho! What a joy it has been for me to sit by the big crackling fire at the North Pole and read all of your wonderful letters that appeared in the Cushing Citizen, the Yale News, and the Keystone Gusher. Mrs. Claus brought me a mug of hot cocoa, the elves gathered around, and Rudolph leaned over my shoulder as we laughed, smiled, and nodded at every thoughtful question you asked. I want you to know that reading your letters truly made my day a very good one.
Many of you wanted to know my favorite color. That’s an easy one! I’ve always been partial to red, the same bright, cheerful red of my suit. It reminds me of warm hearts, cozy fireplaces, and the excitement you feel when Christmas is just around the corner.
You also asked what the North Pole looks like, and I’m delighted to tell you. Imagine sparkling snow that twinkles like diamonds, candy-cane striped lamp posts, workshops buzzing with happy elves, and the tallest Christmas trees you’ve ever seen, decorated year-round. The air smells like pine, sugar cookies, and peppermint, and there’s always laughter floating through the snowflakes.
A few of you wondered if I could ever make the elves go crazy. Well now, elves are already wonderfully silly! They love to sing while they work, tell jokes, and sometimes skate through the workshop when they think I’m not looking. I don’t make them go crazy, but I do join in the fun now and then.
Many letters asked if I was having a good day, and thanks to you, the answer is a big “Yes!” Every day I get to prepare for Christmas, help spread kindness, and read letters from children like you, it doesn’t get better than that.
Some of you kindly asked if I could bring gifts for siblings or parents. I always love seeing children think about others. While I do my best to bring surprises, the most important gifts you can give your family are hugs, helping hands, and kind words. Those are the gifts that never run out.
Now, about my favorite reindeer… oh dear, that’s a tricky one! Each reindeer is special in their own way, but I must admit Rudolph holds a special place in my heart. His glowing nose has guided us through many foggy Christmas eves. As for my favorite elf, I truly can’t choose, though Twinkletoes does make the best hot chocolate!
Several of you asked what kind of magic helps the reindeer fly. It’s a special blend of Christmas magic made from laughter, belief, and a pinch of North Pole sparkle. The more people believe and spread kindness, the stronger that magic becomes. You were curious about how I stay warm at the North Pole. My suit is lined with magical warmth, but what really keeps me cozy is joy. Helping others and feeling thankful is better than the thickest coat.
I noticed questions about food, too! I love cookies, especially chocolate chip, but I also enjoy carrots, soup, and yes, the occasional slice of pie Mrs. Claus bakes. And I never forget to thank everyone who leaves me a snack on Christmas Eve.
Finally, some of you bravely asked if I’ve ever been caught delivering presents. Well… there have been close calls! A creaky floorboard here, a blinking eye there… but with a little magic and quick footsteps, I’ve always made it back up the chimney just in time.
Thank you, Cimarron Valley kids, for your kindness, curiosity, and wonderful imaginations. Keep believing, keep helping others, and remember that the Christmas spirit lives in you all year long.
With love, laughter, and a hearty ho ho ho, Santa Claus
