Local athletes represent at Mid South

STILLWATER — The gravel roads around Stillwater once again tested endurance, grit and a little bit of stubbornness as area athletes took on the 2026 Mid South bike race and trail events.

Sand Springs and Hallett competitors made their mark across multiple cycling divisions, showcasing both speed and staying power.

Sand Springs riders delivered a strong showing, highlighted by depth across distances. In the 100-mile race, David Quinn, 43, and Tiffany Quinn, 43, crossed the finish line just one second apart — 11:04:06 and 11:04:05, respectively — both averaging 9.60 mph. Tiffany placed 127th among female competitors and 30th in the women’s 40–49 division.

The standout performance came in the 50-mile race, where Jeff Edwards, 45, turned in a top-tier ride, placing 54th overall with a time of 3:19:33 and an impressive 16.51 mph average.

Also competing in the 50-mile race, James Edmonds, 64, finished 310th overall in 4:25:30, while Madelyn Baker, 14, represented the next generation with a 6:40:36 finish in the female 18-and-under division.

Hallett’s Steven Strange, 55, completed the 50-mile race in 4:35:12, averaging 11.97 mph while placing 359th overall.

Across both communities, riders battled long miles and shifting conditions, proving their endurance in one of Oklahoma’s premier gravel races.
