BLACKWELL — The Cleveland Tigers needed about 12 minutes to shake the rust off a new season. After that, it was all claws, stripes, and touchdowns and a 62–0 demolition of the Blackwell Maroons last Friday night.
By the end of the first quarter, the Tigers held a 14–0 lead, and the floodgates were starting to strain. In the second, Cleveland broke the welds completely and the deluge came, piling on three more scores. A punishing rushing touchdown pushed it to 21–0, followed by a smooth pitch-and-catch into the end zone, and then another strike through the air right before halftime. By the break, Cleveland had a 35–0 cushion and Blackwell’s home town fans were already checking their Netflix schedules and shifting around in their seats.
The third quarter looked more like a highlight reel. A pair of rushing touchdowns stretched the lead to 48– 0, and the Tigers barely broke a sweat doing it. The offensive line opened lanes wide enough to drive a houseboat through, and Cleveland’s backs didn’t waste the invitation.
The fourth quarter was pure showtime. A bruising run into the end zone made it 54–0, and instead of a routine extra point, Cleveland dialed up a two-point pass conversion — because why not? The final dagger came when the Tigers’ defense got hungry, scooping up a Blackwell fumble and rumbling it back to the house for a 62–0 punctuation mark.
When the clock hit zero, Cleveland fans were already celebrating a statement win: a road shutout, and every phase of the game clicking in Week One.
