DRUMRIGHT — A Miller EMS ambulance caught fire following an injury collision Aug. 27 at approximately 7:22 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 33 (Broadway) and Haven Hill Drive in Drumright.
According to a narrative provided by Drumright Police Department Chief Chris Reinke, officers responded to a collision between the ambulance and one other vehicle. Reinke said multiple people sustained minor injuries and no patients were inside the ambulance at the time of the crash.
DrumrightFireDepartment Chief Brett Lunsford confirmed Reinke’s statement that only minor injuries were sustained. Additionally, he said a fire was ignited in the ambulance's engine compartment following the collision.
“The driver and passenger of the ambulance and driver/ occupant of the other involved vehicle sustained minor injuries,” Lunsford said.
At the request of their employer, both individuals inside the ambulance were transported and treated at a hospital, according to Lunsford. The occupants of the other vehicle were treated at the scene.
Reinke said, as of Aug. 28, officials had not released a determination regarding what caused the collision.
“Thecollissioninvestigation is still on-going,” he said.
Reinke said an officer was still working on the collision report and determining the cause of the crash. Additional information is expected to be available once the investigation is completed.
