CLEVELAND — A Cleveland man was arrested by Cleveland Police Department and booked into the Pawnee County jail on Sept. 15 with a list of seven different charges. Among the charges was assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse in the presence of a minor.
Jacob Wyatt Wilson was booked at 8:23 p.m. on Sept. 15, according to court documents. Court records indicated a protective order had been filed against Wilson earlier that day. A probable cause affidavit filed in Pawnee County District Court revealed additional charges of disrupting or preventing an emergency telephone call, reckless conduct wile having any weapon, use of a firearm while committing a felony, carrying weapons under influence of alcohol, and domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
Cleveland Police Officer Philip Keeling wrote in the affidavit that he was notified there was a person in the lobby of the department who wanted to file a report. Keeling relayed that officers were told the individual had been in a verbal and physical altercation with Wilson at a Cleveland residence that was located less than half a mile from Cleveland Public Schools.
According to a report from KOTV, due to the proximity of the reported incident to the school police requested that the school initiate a campuswide lockdown as a precaution.
Video and audio footage of Wilson was supplied to the department.
“The video showed Mr. Wilson drinking from a liquor bottle and a beer bottle simultaneously. In the video Mr. Wilson appeared to be highly intoxicated,” wrote Keeling. “On the video it shows Mr. Wilson handling a black in color semi auto pistol which was loaded. You can hear Mr. Wilson eject a round from the chamber and the bullet hitting the table.”
Keeling goes on to state Wilson allegedly made statements about shooting police officers, said, “At least I just open palmed smacked the bitch,” and talked about physically assaulting an individual.
Officers later responded to a residence on North Swan Street where Wilson was arrested without further incident, according to the affidavit. The affidavit states Wilson was advised of his rights and agreed to speak with officers. He reportedly denied hitting the alleged victim with a closed fist or pointing a gun at them but acknowledged striking them with an open hand and placing his hand around their face. He also reportedly admitted having the pistol in his possession.
A search of the residence was conducted with consent, according to Keeling. Officers recovered a Glock 17 9mm handgun which was stated to be loaded with a magazine and a round in the chamber.
As of 3 p.m. on Sept. 21, Wilson’s bond was set at $200,000 with a condition prohibiting contact with the alleged victim. The case was put on the Tuesday, Sept. 22 docket; results of the hearing were not available by press time. The allegations contained in the affidavit are accusations and Wilson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
