CREEK COUNTY — Three Creek County churches recently met with state Child Welfare leaders to discuss ways faith communities can support local children, families and Child Welfare employees.
The Oklahoma Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives joined the Oklahoma Human Services Child Welfare director for the meeting, according to a release from the office.
The Oklahoma Assemblies of God helped organize the gathering and bring representatives from the churches and Child Welfare leadership together. Participants discussed the work of Child Welfare, needs within Creek County and practical ways churches could assist.
The meeting was intended to help churches better understand local needs before deciding how to offer support, according to the release.
The Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives said such conversations are part of an effort to strengthen relationships between churches and Child Welfare offices throughout Oklahoma.
The office thanked the Oklahoma Assemblies of God, participating churches and Child Welfare leaders for working to build community partnerships intended to support families and care for children.
