The Creek County Commissioners Monday discussed the status of COVID-19 vaccinations within the county and what the next steps for residents will be.

Emergency Management Director Covey Murray said the county is currently in Phase 2 of vaccinations.

“We are in Phase II of vaccinations and the 65-plus will be giving out vaccinations at First Christian Church address 220 E. Lee, in Sapulpa,” he said. “The Health Department did start some 65+ last week. You must register online and the Health Department will notify you of the date, time and location when it is your turn.”

Murray told the Commissioners that Creek County has 4, 707 active COVID-19 cases since last March, with 72 deaths and 139 additional cases since Jan. 10.

District 1 Commissioner Newt Stephens said work on the next phase of the expansion process of the Turner Turnpike began Monday.

“There will be occasion that it will be less than four lanes, the majority of the work will be done during the night hours,” he said. “This is the last four miles going into six lanes.”

District 2 Commissioner Leon Warner said contractors have been working for months to get the expansion project ready.
