DRUMRIGHT — The regularly scheduled commission meeting, originally planned for Sept. 8, was cancelled because there would not be enough officials for a quorum, according to City Manager Shawn Gibson.
“There was not enough people to have a meeting,” he said following the cancellation announcement.
Because the number of attending members was going to fall short of a quorum the city made the decision to cancel the meeting on Sept. 4. In accordance with public meeting requirements, a quorum — defined as the minimum number of commissioners required to conduct official business — must be present for any decisions or actions to be legally valid.
The regular meeting of the Drumright Gas Authority and Drumright Utility Trust that were set to be held in conjunction of the commission was also cancelled.
At the same time as the announced cancelation a special meeting was scheduled to take place next Monday on Sept. 15. All items originally slated for discussion are planned to be carried forward to the special meeting date.
The public is encouraged to attend the rescheduled meeting. Meeting materials and agendas will be made available in advance through the official website or at the commission office.
