A resurgence of COVID-19 has led to concerns resulting in the closure of the Drumright Senior Citizens Center.

According to sources, the Drumright Housing Authority made the decision to close the Senior Citizens Center on Sunday, Aug. 29.

According to Drumright resident Amanda Levis and senior center volunteer, Sunday dinners at the facility have been postponed until further notice. She did say that the community has responded with understanding despite the disappointment.

Levis said she looks forward to being able to return to serving the senior center when it is safe to do so.

“Please take all the chances to show consideration for the health of others and yourselves,” she said.

While the decision was made by the DHA Levis said she supports them in it.

“We are all winners when we put safety first. Please check on your loved ones as we begin to close places where we gather in groups for the health of our community,” she said.

From Aug. 5 to Aug. 26 the total cases of COVID-19 reported in Drumright has risen by 42.
