Football & Ag: new hires

DRUMRIGHT — Drumright Public Schools recently announced two key positions will be filled following board approval of Mark Ryan as head football coach and Emily Amen as fulltime agriculture education teacher and district FFA advisor.

Ryan was named head football coach last week just in time for the district to transition back to 11-man football starting next season. According to district administration, Ryan brings more than 30 years of experience in education and athletics. Previously, Ryan has had the opportunity to coach 6A, 5A, 3A, and 2A levels having served at Edmond North, Putnam City, Crooked Oak, Hennessy, Choctaw, Mustang and Midwest City — as head coach as well as strength and conditioning coordinator. He has also built competitive football and powerlifting programs during his time at other districts.

Ryan will also be teaching history in the classroom having earned a bachelor’s degree in history education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s in educational leadership from East Central University. He currently holds certifications in American History, Oklahoma History, Geography and Driver’s Education.

“Drumright is extremely fortunate to make the transition back to 11-man football next season while being led by Coach Ryan,” said board member Gary Todd. “I have the utmost confidence in him continuing to move the program, and the district, forward.”

The district also welcomed Amen as the new full-time agriculture education teacher and FFA advisor for Drumright High School and Cooper Middle School. She began serving in the role this past Monday on Feb. 16 and will lead classroom instruction, supervise student projects and guide the FFA chapters.

District leaders say Amen has already demonstrated strong dedication to students and agricultural education with an emphasis on leadership development and hands-on learning. Officials say both hires reflect Drumright Public Schools’ commitment to academic excellence, strong programs, and preparing students for future success.
