MANNFORD — During the a special meeting of the Mannford Public Works Authority, members considered the declaration of a non-operational ambulance as surplus property.
City Administrator Gerald Haury noted that the ambulance is expected to exceed the $1,000 surplus limit that he is authorized to approve, thus requiring board approval.
“We've had interest from a vocational school in purchasing the unit, but if no agreement is reached, we’ll look to sell it through a city surplus auction,” he said.
Additionally, the meeting agenda listed retaining a law firm for prosecution of legal claims for negligence which Haury clarified was not a claim made by or against Mannford.
“The city has been determined to be a part of a class action lawsuit and if the class action lawsuit wins the city will be able to claim our share of the settlement,” he said.
The city will not be filing a separate negligence claim but will be entitled to a portion of the settlement as a part of the broader class action as it currently stands.
