Mannford woman injured in headon collision in Payne County

PERKINS — A Mannford woman was injured in a head-on collision May 28 on State Highway 33 in Payne County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Tamara J. Watters, 68, of Mannford was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 33 at about 12:39 p.m. when her vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle near the intersection of Highway 33 and Sangre Road, troopers reported.

According to OHP, Watters and the other driver, Kaylie R. Ortiz, 33, of Warr Acres, both swerved left in an attempt to avoid a collision but ultimately struck headon.

Following the impact, Watters' vehicle left the roadway and came to rest on the grassy shoulder. Ortiz's vehicle came to rest across both lanes of travel.

Watters was injured in the crash. A passenger in her vehicle was also injured. Ortiz sustained injuries as well, according to the report.

All occupants involved in the collision were wearing seat belts.

The crash was investigated by Trooper Ryan Cooper.
