New playground equipment at Garrett Park

DRUMRIGHT — The City of Drumright recently had a new addition to Garrett Park with the installation of new playground equipment aimed at enhancing outdoor recreation for local families.

The playground equipment which cost nearly $30,000 was installed over the course of a couple days with a completion on Jan. 7, according to City Manager Shawn Gibson. He relayed the project was made possible through an anonymous donation and did not require use of city funds.

“This playground is a wonderful gift to our community. While the donor has chosen to remain anonymous their generosity will be felt every day as children play, learn, and connect in this space,” said Gibson.

In addition to the playground equipment there are plans for a new picnic table and a camp-style charcoal grill to be installed at a later date. Both of which are also being made possible through an anonymous donation, according to Gibson, at an additional combined expected expense of $2,174. An installation date has not yet been determined for the additions.

Gibson said the playground will provide outdoor activities for the kids in the Country Club Heights addition and surrounding areas. City officials encouraged families to visit the area and enjoy the new equipment.
