Sand Springs Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

SAND SPRINGS — Sand Springs police are investigating a murder-suicide after a husband and wife were found dead early Sunday inside their home near East 10th Street and 10th Place, according to a press release from the Sand Springs Police Department.

Officers were called to the residence about 6:44 a.m. after a family member reported receiving a phone call from the man who lived in the home. Inside, officers found Cynthia Toliver, 72, and Brad Toliver, 74, each dead from apparent single gunshot wounds. Investigators said two family pets were also found shot and killed.

Based on evidence at the scene, police believe Brad Toliver shot his wife and the animals before taking his own life. Police said the case appears to be an isolated family tragedy and that there is no indication of any danger to the public.

The investigation is ongoing. “Our hearts go out to the surviving family members during this incredibly difficult time,” the department said in its statement, encouraging anyone in crisis to seek help.
