SAND SPRINGS — Residents are invited to kick off their Independence Day weekend at the City of Sand Springs' annual Star Spangled Salute this coming Friday on July 3, at Case Community Park, 2500 S. River City Park Road.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with a fireworks display scheduled for dusk.
The free community celebration will feature inflatables, a Kids Zone hosted by Church That Matters, food trucks offering a variety of savory meals and desserts, and access to the park's splash pad, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. One of the featured inflatables will be a large water slide designed for both children and adults, according to Parks Administrative Assistant Melissa Cartwright.
Cartwright said organizers expect a larger-than-usual crowd this year as communities celebrate America's 250th anniversary.
'It's a long-time event,' she said. 'It's a staple, kind of like Herbal Affair for Sand Springs. We capitalize on July 3, of course, versus the Fourth.'
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy an evening at the park before the fireworks begin. Approximately 10 food trucks are expected to participate, providing a wide selection of food and treats.
