Sand Springs teen dies in car crash

OAKHURST — An 18-year-old Sand Springs man was killed and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Creek County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the collision occurred about 7:58 a.m. Dec. 20 near West 63rd Street South and South 63rd West Avenue, southwest of Sand Springs. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on West 63rd Street South when it left the roadway to the right, struck a culvert and came to rest off the road.

One passenger, identified as Aiden M. Richards, 18, of Sand Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene, the OHP reported.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was injured and transported for medical treatment. Two additional passengers were also injured. Troopers said seatbelts were not in use by any occupants at the time of the crash.

The collision remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
