AVANT — Two 9-year-old boys from Avant died Friday evening in a drowning incident at Tucker Creek in Osage County.
The incident occurred about 7 p.m. Feb. 7 approximately a half-mile south of County Road 2230, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Details surrounding what led to the drownings remain under investigation, OHP said.
The water temperature was reported to be 36 degrees, and neither child was wearing a personal flotation device, authorities said.
The investigation is being led by OHP Trooper Preston Freeny.
Assisting agencies included the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, Tulsa Task Force 1, Barnsdall EMS, Skiatook EMS, Skiatook Fire Department, Air Evac, and additional troopers from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
