OKLAHOMA CITY — Incoming high school seniors and college freshmen interested in journalism can apply for the Paul B. Southerland Summer Journalism Institute, a free one-week workshop scheduled for July 6-10 in Oklahoma City.
Hosted at Metro Technology Center, the institute will introduce students to the fundamentals of journalism, including reporting, photography, digital media and media ethics. Participants will learn best practices from journalism professionals while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
The program is open to incoming high school seniors and college freshmen and is limited to the first 25 to 30 students who apply and are accepted.
There is no registration fee to attend. Lunch will be provided each day at no cost to participants.
The registration deadline is June 29.
Students interested in pursuing careers in journalism,communications, photography or digital media are encouraged to apply early due to limited enrollment.
