OSBI investigates fatal shooting in Pawnee

PAWNEE — On Wednesday, June 11, Pawnee County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old Pawnee youth, Preston Levi Mulder.

A spokesperson with the Pawnee County Sheriff’s office said that since the investigation was handed over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, they could not comment.

OSBI spokesperson Hunter McGee said the bureau’s investigation into the incident is ongoing and that the shooting has not been ruled accidental.

He said the bureau would be turning their findings over to the Pawnee County District Attorney’s Office who would then make a determination about whether or not charges would be filed.

The Pawnee Bath House at the Pawnee Recreation Area was closed they following the incident and all Pawnee Tribal offices closed at 11 a.m. Monday in honor of Mulder, who was a Pawnee Tribal member.
