DRUMRIGHT — A memorandum of understanding with the City of Stillwater that was recently approved by the Drumright commissioners will provide the Drumright Police Department with 17 donated Tasers.
Under the agreement, Drumright will receive 17 Taser Model X26P units along with associated cartridges and holsters. The equipment was donated by the City of Stillwater and will be used by Drumright o cers.
Commissioners approved the agreement during their June 8 meeting.
The donation provides the department with additional less-lethal tools without requiring the city to purchase the equipment. Tasers are commonly used by law enforcement agencies as an alternative force option during certain encounters.
City o cials did not indicate when the equipment would be placed into service but noted the devices were being provided at no cost to Drumright.
