Sand Springs man injured in crash

TULSA COUNTY — Three people were injured in a head-on collision early July 8 after another vehicle reportedly passed illegally and forced an oncoming driver off the road.

The crash occurred at 5:39 a.m. near West 51st Street South and South 97th West Avenue, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said David K. Holman, 71, of Sand Springs was traveling east on West 51st Street South when an unidentified westbound vehicle crossed left of center while illegally passing other vehicles.

Holman swerved partially onto the grass shoulder to avoid the passing vehicle. He then lost control, overcorrected while returning to the roadway and crossed into the westbound lane, where his vehicle struck another vehicle head-on.

The second vehicle was driven by Joshua D. Boyd, 44, of Tulsa.

Holman, his passenger and Boyd were injured in the collision. No information about their conditions was included in the collision report.

Holman and his passenger were wearing seat belts. Boyd was not wearing a seat belt, according to OHP.

The vehicle that reportedly caused Holman to leave the roadway was not identified in the report.

The collision was investigated by Trooper Matthew Middleton of OHP Troop B.
