PERKINS — Here's your chance to blame a good cause for that slice into the trees.
The Humane Society of Stillwater is inviting golfers of every skill level—from scratch players to people who consider 'finding the ball' a personal victory— to its 17th Annual Putts for Pets golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Cimarron Trails Golf Club in Perkins. The event raises money to provide food, shelter and medical care for homeless animals while helping them find forever homes.
Registration opens at 8 a.m., with golfers teeing off at 9 a.m. Players can sign up individually for $100, enter a four-person team for $400, or register a team with a hole sponsorship for $500. Whether you're chasing birdies or just hoping to avoid embarrassing yourself on the first tee, every swing helps support the Humane Society's work.
Local businesses can also get in on the action through sponsorship opportunities ranging from a $100 Chihuahua sponsorship to the $2,500 Great Dane sponsorship. Top-level sponsors receive tournament entries, lunch, multiple hole signs, recognition during the event, social media promotion and prominent placement on the tournament banner.
Putts for Pets has become one of the Humane Society of Stillwater's signature fundraisers, drawing golfers who know the score isn't nearly as important as the animals they'll be helping. Every dollar raised helps care for dogs and cats waiting for a second chance at a loving home.
Golfers and sponsors can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or by submitting a registration form to the Humane Society of Stillwater. If your golf game is a little rough around the edges, don't worry—the dogs won't judge you, and the cats already were going to anyway.
