SAND SPRINGS — Work has begun on upgrades to Page Park in Sand Springs as part of the City's 2022 General Obligation Bond Election.
Sand Springs Parks said the $1.8 million project has combined voterapproved funds and a grant from the OTRD/National Park Service.
Tyrel Rogers, Parks and Recreation Project Manager, City of Sand Springs outlined the park improvement project.
“The upgrades will include a baseball themed splash pad, restroom, new playground equipment, including an inclusive swing, embankment slide, structures for 2–5-year-olds and 5–10-year-olds, a kid’s bike pump track, outdoor fitness equipment, and a walking trail,” he said. “Currently the old playground has been dismantled and removed. Earthwork has started and the contractor is prepping the areas where the splash pad, restroom, and trail will be.”
Rogers said the park has been in need of an upgrade for quite some time.
“Citizens will benefit from all aspects of the park, the splash pad will be a popular feature, especially during the hot summer months,” he said. “The kid’s bike pump track, the outdoor fitness equipment and walking trail is a way to help promote healthy, active lifestyles for all ages. Ultimately, by blending all these features together Page Park will serve as a place that will foster community connection and enhance the quality of life for all the residents.”
