KEYSTONE LAKE — A 26-year-old Tulsa man drowned at Appalachia Bay on Keystone Lake after entering the water to cool off, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Christian Becerra-Ledezma was riding an ATV along the shoreline of Party Cove before walking into the water. OHP reported that he went under and did not resurface.
A dive team was called to the scene, and Becerra-Ledezma was located in approximately 9 feet of water. His body was recovered at 7:16 p.m.
He was transported by Ray’s Francisco Funeral Home to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Tulsa.
OHP reported the water temperature was approximately 92 degrees, while the outside temperature was 103 degrees. Weather conditions were partly cloudy.
The drowning was investigated by OHP Trooper B. Coyle.
Peninsula Fire, Green Country Fire, Keystone Lake Rangers and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assisted at the scene. Troopers R. Long and A. Floyd of the OHP Dive Team also assisted.
