Statewide Overview:
• Fire Danger Peak: Monday presents the highest fire danger of the week across western, south-central, and panhandle regions due to high temperatures (99-102 degrees Fahrenheit), low relative humidity (22–32 percent), and strong south winds gusting over 30 mph.
• Fuel Moisture and Spread Risk: Persistent drought and excessive heat have kept composite fuel moistures very dry (+90th degree percentile Energy Release Component). Head fire rates of spread in rangeland fuels could reach 155–185 ft per minute with flame lengths up to 12–15 ft, alongside spotting and torching in brush/juniper fuels.
Central Oklahoma:
• The highest fire danger develops along and west of I-35 (especially south-central Oklahoma). Expect highs of 98°F–101°F, relative humidity of 26– 32%, and south winds at 12–16 mph (gusting 20–25 mph). Rangeland rates of spread will reach 75–105 ft/min with flame lengths around 12 ft. While winds relax after Monday, low fuel moisture will continue to require extended firefighting resources.
Eastern Oklahoma:
• Northeastern Oklahoma has seen some moderation from recent rain, but southeastern Oklahoma maintains elevated fire danger and activity. Grass fuels will see spread rates around 100 ft/min with 9–12 ft flame lengths, while timber fuels will see spread rates around 30 ft/min with 3.5–6 ft flame lengths. Problematic fire behavior is expected in areas with brush, stressed oak, or pine.
Outlook:
• A weak cold front Tuesday afternoon/evening brings low rain chances mainly to the Panhandle and northwestern counties before dissipating. Hot, dry conditions will persist across the state through the workweek ahead of a second cold front late in the weekend that offers potential for cooler temperatures and additional rain chances. Resistance to control remains very high, particularly along and south of I-40.
