MANNFORD — The Mannford Board of Trustees approved an ordinance to remove four lots in the Wright Acres No. Two addition from the town’s municipal limits during the Oct. 8 regular meeting.
Ordinance No. 2026-2 which was published in the Oct. 15 edition of the Keystone Gusher identifies Lots 35, 36, 43, and 59 in Wright Acres No. Two associated with one address. The ordinance states that the four lots will be excluded from Mannford’s corporate limits once the measure takes effect. Finance Director Britny Porter explained the property owner has four individual lots in Wright Acres but only one was included in the original ordinance.
Porter said the board previously questioned whether the lots were combined in Creek County property records or remained listed individually. That question prompted further review of the properties before the de-annexation ordinance moved forward.
The ordinance states that the property owners requested removal from Mannford’s corporate limits and that the town determined the requirements for detachment, including proper notice, had been met.
During the public hearing held on Sept. 10 in conjunction with special trustee meeting, a concern raised involved how similar requests had been handled in the past, according to Porter. She said the current board was not involved in those earlier decisions and could not speak to the reasons or procedures used at that time.
“There are no plans of development to that area or any utilities to those residence,” noted Porter when questioned about impacts to future plans.
The trustees also approved an emergency clause intended to allow the measure to take effect immediately. Porter said the clause was included because of the time constraints associated with publishing and filing the ordinance.
Under the ordinance, the measure must be published within 14 days of approval. Porter said it will take effect the day after it is filed with Creek County.
