SAPULPA — A former Mannford school resource officer pled guilty to several different counts including sodomy, indecent exposure, furnishing alcohol, and rape on Sept. 25 — over a year after the initial case was filed.
James Matthew Waltman pled guilty in Creek County district court after a number of court appearances over the past year from his initial arraignment in March of 2024 to his most recent appearance on Sept. 25. Following his arrest and subsequent termination from the school district Waltman had initially pled not guilty. Since his arraignment when he pled not guilty Waltman has remained out of jail on bond. His case was continued several times before a preliminary hearing was finally set for July 10 of this year. His arraignment was held on Aug. 6. Due to an error in scheduling a conference on Sept. 24 was reset for Sept. 25 when Waltman entered a plea of guilty.
The sentencing on the case was passed to Oct. 21 to allow time for a victim’s impact statement. Waltman is free on bond, according to court documents.
