Drumright Approves Fire Service Mitigation Ordinance and Billing Agreement

DRUMRIGHT — Measures to modernize the Drumright Fire Departments billing procedures for certain emergency responses were approved by the City of Drumright commissioners recently.

A proposed billing service agreement with Fire Recovery USA, LLC was once again on the commission meeting agenda after having been tabled last month. The matter had been tabled due to minor adjustments needing to be made to the agreement before approval. City Manager Shawn Gibson clarified the correction that had to be made was replacing a reference to “California” for “Oklahoma”. With the updated complete the commission approved the billing service agreement.

The agreement approval as well as last months ordinance to establish mitigation rates for emergency and nonemergency fire department services are expected to improve cost recovery and streamline billing for the fire department. Gibson explained the ordinance allows the city to set standard rates primarily used for insurance billing and introduced collectionbased reporting for the department.

“This allows the city to set rates for emergencies and non-emergencies,” he said. “Usually used for insurance billing.'

Among department services that had rates established was vehicle collisions and fires with medical calls being excluded.
