SAND SPRINGS — Following a hit-and-run injury collision last Friday on May 8, a separate crash involving a responding police officer occurred.
According to Sand Springs Police Department authorities, officers were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. to the 9000 block of West Highway 412 in response to a hit-and-run injury accident. An officer located the suspect of the hit-and-run collision near 78th West Avenue and Charles Page Boulevard and requested additional backup units. While enroute to assist another officer was involved in a collision at the intersection of 81st West Avenue and Charles Page Boulevard.
Both the officer and the other driver involved in that collision during emergency response were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Officials said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Following the incident, the department announced the officer has since been released and is recovering at home — authorities expressed hopes for a speedy recovery for the other injured individual.
The suspect connected to the original hit-andrun was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and several additional offenses, according to department reports.
