Dear Editor,
Why I’m voting for opportunity Although opportunity doesn’t always mean success, in the case of Central Tech, it actually does. A vast majority of the students gain employment upon graduation.
My daughter was one of them.
She was educated through the Central Tech cosmetology program and is a gainfully employed cosmetologist, practicing her craft in support of herself and new family. I also was educated through Central Tech's EMT program and received many fire servicerelated classes on campus. I have used those skills for a decade in service to my community.
I am voting for others to have this same opportunity This is an opportunity that is available to anyone and everyone, but your children and future generations are being turned away due to space and program limitation. I will vote to fix this. With the growth of A.I. consuming and eliminating many jobs, skilled trades will continue its upward trend of demand, as there is already a shortage and aging population of skilled workers nationwide. I am one of the aging.
Although not a proponent of excessive and unwarranted taxation, I am a supporter of my circle, my community and the next generation. Is this worth $22, $44, $66 per year? I have no doubt I have spent that on less noble causes this month alone. Yes, the next generation's opportunity is worth that to me.
I will vote to remove physical barriers and create opportunity. The same opportunities that were provided to my daughter and myself by others.
Respectfully,
Jamey Martin,
