Tornadoes host Junior High Basketball Camp at Drumright

Recently, the Drumright Tornadoes hosted a team basketball camp.

I believe Drumright’s only loss came to Coyle on the first day.

I saw the second day — well… I missed their first game, when they beat Anderson by three. In the second game, they played Agra and won 33–25.

Keaton Baugh lit it up with 19 points, hitting one threepointer. Dallas Robinson and Abel Robbins both had six points, and B.B. Barber added two points but grabbed a lot of good rebounds. Eli Karney hit a three, and Landon Lemmons and Bentley Astin also played.

Drumright (Cooper) jumped out to a 14–6 lead. Fairly late in the game, Agra closed the gap to 27–25, but Drumright pulled away to win, 33–25.

Later, in the best game of the day, Drumright played Depew. Depew’s pretty good. The Cooper Tornadoes had leads of 10 and nine, but No. 32 from Depew scored 10 straight points and the Tornadoes got to find out how far up the bleachers went.

But Baugh, who had six points, and Robbins, who had seven, led the Tornadoes. Robinson and Lemmons both had four apiece.

Terry Maddox is the seventh- and eighth-grade coach. They didn’t have everybody there, so they had to use an extra player.

Oilton did pretty well up there, hammering Yale 38–13. You never know who’s going to show up at these team camps unless you’ve seen the players before.

Oilton looked very good, and Yale had a tough time against Oilton’s size.

I may not get all these names right, but Oilton had balanced scoring against Yale. Cash Prather had 14, Cynch Ford had 10, Tripp Brown had six, and Drake Casey had four. Rodie Moore was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.

The next game was a lot tougher, as Beggs — who’s always had athletes — gave the Panthers all they wanted. Oilton won 27–25, but needed 13 from Cash Prather, who went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Drake Casey had six (2-for-2 from the line), and Cynch Ford had six. This Oilton bunch has played together quite a bit.

Drumright’s coach is Terry Maddox, and Oilton’s coach is Ryan Moore.
