MANNFORD — On a night painted purple and gold, the Mannford Pirates gave their town a win that felt bigger than football. It was senior night — but above that, it was Leland’s night.
Mannford Pirate Seniors Ricky Morgan, Max Moore, Kendal Howard, Bobby Blackburn, Jarrett Robinson, Sebaschyn Gaches, Rodrigo Esparza, Luke Colson, Nick Hockersmith, Hagen Anderson, Even Thomas, Trey Scott and Braiden Rodriguez, walk down to the 34 yard line of Pirate Stadium Thursday to pay tribute to their fallen teammate, #34 Leland Geary. The Pirates won one for Leland, defeating Victory Christian 48-14. See story, Page 6.

First of all I messed up saying that we were playing Yale on Thursday night, it’s on Friday night on Oct. 24 at Yale.I do have the stats from the Cave Springs fame that we won 50-0.Garrett Wright rushed for 64 yards on 5 carries. He passed 6 out of 7 for 81 yards and 4 touchdowns.

LONE GROVE — The Mannford Pirates showed grit and flashes of determination Friday night despite falling 41-0 on the road, in Lone Grove, in a District 3A-2 matchup that tested their endurance and resolve.

We had three senior girls who were honored on Senior Day so I will write about them. There is also slowpitch softball in the spring so we’re probably saying goodbye to them just untill fast pitch.Avery Todd, most of her career, played in the end.
