Area Fishing Report

NORTHEAST 

Birch: August 31. Elevation is 1.5 ft. below normal and stable, water temperature 77°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Striped bass hybrids fair on live shad around main lake and points. Crappie good on jigs and minnows around brush structure. Report submitted by Jeremy Bersche, game warden stationed in Osage County.

Grand: August 31. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, docks, points, and shorelines. Blue catfish fair on cut bait and shad below the dam, channels, docks, and main lake. White bass fair on Alabama rigs, in-line spinnerbaits, and spoons below the dam, flats, main lake, and points. Kaw: September 2. Elevation is 3 ft. above normal and falling, water temperature 84°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth and spotted bass fair on buzz baits, crankbaits, jerk baits, jigs, lipless baits, plastic baits, and topwater lures around coves, points, riprap, rocks, and shorelines. Striped bass, striped bass hybrids, and white bass fair on flukes, jerk baits, jigs, live bait, live shad, sassy shad, shad, and topwater lures below the dam. Paddlefish fair snagging below the dam. Keystone: September 1. Elevation is 2 ft. above normal and falling, water temperature 75°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass good on Alabama rigs, bill baits, buzz baits, crankbaits, inline spinnerbaits, jerk baits, plastic baits, small lures, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, docks, points, riprap, shallows, standing timber, and weed beds. Blue and channel catfish good on cut bait and live bait around main lake. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around docks. Report submitted by Tracer Wagner, game warden stationed in Creek County.

Lower Illinois River: August 29. Elevation is 1 ft. above normal and stable, water temperature 70°F and clear. Rainbow trout slow on caddis flies, in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, and worms below the dam, shallows, and shorelines. Comments: Current river flow 570 CFS, possibly could go higher with recent rain. Trout stocking still suspended until water conditions improve. Skiatook: August 31. Elevation is 1.5 ft. below normal and stable, water temperature 78°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level) Crappie good on jigs and minnows around brush structure. SOUTHEAST 

Blue River: September 2. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 80°F and clear. (USGS Lake Level) Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass good on crankbaits, jerk baits, lipless baits, plastic baits, spinnerbaits, topwater lures, and tube jigs around brush structure, channels, creek channels, river channel, rocks, shallows, shorelines, and weed beds. Channel catfish fair on chicken liver, punch bait, stinkbait, and worms around brush structure, channels, and rocks. Broken Bow: September 2. Elevation is 1 ft. above normal and rising, water temperature 88°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass fair on Alabama rigs, bill baits, buzz baits, crankbaits, flukes, in-line spinnerbaits, plastic baits, spinnerbaits, and spoons around brush structure, channels, main lake, points, river channel, and standing timber. Hugo: August 29. Elevation is 1 ft. below normal and stable, water temperature 78°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth, spotted, and white bass fair on bill baits, crankbaits, lipless baits, plastic baits, and topwater lures around brush structure, points, river channel, and standing timber. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, live bait, and live shad below the dam, river channel, and spillway.
