Drumright Fire Department host 9/11 Memorial Walk

DRUMRIGHT — The Drumright Fire Department will once again host a memorial walk to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The community remembrance event will be held this weekend on Sept. 7.

“We walk to remember the victims, honor the first responders, and support one another — ensuring that the lessons of compassion and unity live on,” said Fire Chief Brett Lunsford.

Department leadership invites community members, first responders, and local organizations to come together in tribute at the fire station, 116 West Broadway, at 8 a.m. before starting the 3.43-mile long walk at 8:30 a.m.

The Drumright Fire Department members have a long-standing tradition of performing this walk in full gear. The 3.43-mile represent the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. In addition to the local walk, many of the department members will attend the Oklahoma City remembrance climb where they will go up several flights of stairs just as the first responders did on 9/11.

Organizers of the event aim to create a powerful and meaningful experience that will honor the bravery and sacrifice shown on that tragic day. The Drumright Fire Department encourages residents to attend, participate, and show support as the town comes together for this important occasion.
